It is 14 miles long and 8 miles wide, with 45 miles of shoreline. A spectacular opportunity to see and photograph wildlife, including 800,000 Northern Fur Seals. Over 200 species of bird's number in the millions, and wildflowers spangle the landscape. St. Paul's climate is foggy and moist. Rain gear is a must and clothing is casual. |
During your stay you will be escorted to the teeming seal and seabird rookeries. Your guide will acquaint you with the life and migration of the fur seal. Besides the huge population of fur seals, the Pribilofs host more than two million sea birds each year. On excursions to the famous Pribilof bird rookeries at the end of the Island, you will observe the mystic volcanic terrain and beautiful wildflowers that cover the fragile Arctic tundra. Enroute you'll see the ever-present Arctic Blue Fox, or possibly the elusive grazing reindeer herd. |
You will stay at the King Elder Hotel. The friendly and rustic atmosphere of the hotel adds to the adventure of visiting this remote part of the world. Rooms are cozy and warm and bath facilities are shared. Local eateries offer home style dishes each night.
